im new to the subaru scene, ive been driving a Camaro but i have decided i need a car that wont lose the rear end only going 20mph around a corner. is there any major problems that the subaru has compared to any other cars or is it just a bad-a$$ car and i should stick to my choice.

The major problem with the Subaru Impreza STI is that it attracts too much attention from ricers and racers.

Other than that, it's solid as granite.

i heard that is has a bit of understeer but like ill ever experience that. It was between the Sti or Evo 8 MR, the sti had me sold with the interior and well you cant beat the gold wheels

I get enough attention from ricers with my plain WRX, so I can't imagine what kind of attention you might get with an STI.

thats ok maybe ill scare them away when i rev it up, i plan on putting a massive Blow off Valve on it and a 3 inch down pipe but thats the most ill ever do to it power wise, i plan on making it just for show

Just keep in mind before you start changing pipes, a turbo does require back pressure.

I know a moron that put such a large downpipe on his car he lost most of his power due to the lack of back pressure.

Ray,
How large is too large to lose back pressure?
I see a whole lot downpipes on the market and
I assume that those aren't "too large" to lose
back pressure.

3" in a good amount of cases is a good choice, doesn't reduce power noticably and will slightly give some top end not a big amount

THe evo mr is sick the sti comes with no raido so if u ever plan on listing to music there is money spent right there for ur "huge" bov but i like them both much better than camero when my car was stock i burnt camero ss with lp headers and full exaust and full intake beat it by about 3-4 car lenths but i now run low 11's in the quarter so it would be alot more than that now. and im not a huge fan of the boxer engine thats y i went with the evo.

I though the STi did have a radio. If it really matters, my neighbor has the formula that tells you how big your exhaust needs to be, and where you reach sonic velocity. I am flying home tomorrow so I can get it then.

BTW The I think the EVO is sooooo Much Tougher looking than the STi, but the 06 is pretty sick.

I thought that the radio was standard equipment starting from 05.

Don't like the boxer engine?? The only downside (I feel)would be maintainance. What's not to like??

i heard that is has a bit of understeer but like ill ever experience that.

Most cars coming from the factory are understeer biased for safety reasons. My WRX understeers a bit, I don't think it's that noticeable on the STi unless pushed really hard.

Whichever the case, just get aftermarket swaybars. Fixes it right up.
