July 10, 2005. At approximately 2:20 PM things went wrong for me. Please, this is quite an interesting tale, take the time to read it.

It was what seemed to be another beautiful, sunny day here in Utah. I was meeting up with friends at Carls Jr. I had just gotten ready. Took my car to Chevron to gas up, and even decided to give the Civ a nice little car wash. Life was peachy. Everything was going right up until the incident.

I left to Carls Jr. a little early, just to cruise around for a while. I took a little detour before I went to Carls and decided to take the long way back around. I was just heading back to Carls and I was going to hop back on to University and head towards my destination. I pulled behind a pretty good looking 2002 BMW 325i (which I later discovered what it was) who was signalling in my same direction. Him ahead, and me just following up. Traffic was clear in the left direction. So it appeared that he took off. So I looked left, signalling, I decided to take off as well. Well, to my surprise he had stopped no more than 5 feet ahead of me. I had no reaction time at all to stop for him. And it just happened. "BAM!!"

My body shook for a moment, my head jerked, and there he was. Right in front of me. I was puzzled as to why he stopped and my first thought was "WTF??". Seconds later, a group of small ducks were seen crossing in front of him. He stopped for a group of fucking ducks. I got screwed over by fucking ducks. Oh how I just wanted to run them over at that moment. But my attention immediately turned to him, wondering if he was alright. I hopped out of my car and asked him to pull ahead because we were blocking traffic behind us. As soon as he hopped out of his car, I was a little relieved.

My buddy James' old roommate, Paul, a man I have met a few times was right there in front of me. He noticed me right away as well, and we shook hands. I apologized numerous times to him, because he had just purchased the car a few months previous to our incident. He was very calm about it, cool, and we decided to call the police and notify our insurance agencies. The damage on my car wasn't nearly bad enough. Although his car, well, let's just say the damages were worth more than my car. Although, there are some other things that played out in this scenario.

The officer who took down our info called Paul back to his car. It appeared that his liscense was suspended at the time of the incident. I don't know for how long, or why, but it didn't seem good for him at all. He was cited right on the spot, but luckily his girlfriend showed up to drive him away from the scene. Me on the other hand. Well, for me my insurance is going to sail back up. I was very delighted a few weeks ago to find that my insurance payments had dropped by nearly $50. Now this isn't going to help me at all. It's going to shoot back up again.

A few things are for sure, my plan for an H22 is going to be delayed. I'm going to be paying a butt load of insurance. The damages on my car will need to be fixed. And, I plan on taking a road trip back to see my sister the beginning of August. So, I can just see it all as one big pile of shit getting dumped all over my head. Ah life, I guess you just have to roll along with the punches. Although, as far as this incidents goes. I don't know how it's going to pan out. He shouldn't have been driving in the first place, too. The insurance agencies haven't contacted either of us yet at all.

What I did find funny however, is that Paul was going to pick up James, a good friend of mine, from Church. And James, along with a few other friends, were who I was going to be meeting at Carls Jr. Ironic isn't it? Well, it was all too funny to each of us when I heard about this from James. If only Paul didn't have to pick up James from church, this wouldn't have happened I guess. But, things happen for a reason I guess. Enjoy!!...wait...no don't enjoy....

Oh damn...sorry to hear about that.

My friend had an incident like this where the guy he hit had a suspended liscense. Normally it would've been my friend's fault but they found it to be the other drivers fault because he shouldn't've been on the road at all...

I am really hoping this can work out in my favor. My first thought after hearing his liscense was suspended "He shouldn't have been driving then." I'm going to try and find out if this can workout in my favor. Although, Paul is a really good guy. He was extremely calm and cool the whole time, and he was even more concerned about my Civic than his bimmer.

I don't want to get him screwed over, and on the flip side, I don't want to get screwed over. I can't wait to find out what could happen in this scenario. But in reality, I think if I have to, I would have to help myself before I would help him.

Here's just a few photos I took off my camera phone. Like I said, it really wasn't all the bad for me. The left fender is bent a little bit, so my turn signal hangs out a little ways. The hood closes and opens just fine. The bumper is shifted a bit, so my right front wheel rubs up on it when I make left hand turns. Although, I think it makes my car a little more aerodynamic :icon16:.

Sorry to hear Civ. Atleast you didnt hurt anything major (radiator, suspension components, etc.). I mean everything that is hurt is pretty much bolt on stuff.

Anyways, good luck with the police report and what not, lol.

Everything is cool right now. He called me and my buddy james (paul called) and asked if I was doing ok. The guy is a stud. I'm really glad that it was him rather than some random guy who could have been a prick about things. The "BAM!" wasn't my car, it was his. Honestly the damage alone on his is worth more than my car. His back end is much worse than my cars. Damn fragile german pieces of shit...:grinno:.

Anyway, everything will be settled through our insurance agencies. Although, I will be paying so much more on insurace again. I finally got it knocked down, and now it's going to shoot back up again. It blows really, but you just gotta go with it. I'm sorry that it all happened, but I'm glad everything is going to work out fine in the end.

So are you getting a new hood and new fenders?

How about CF? Are you getting insurance money, or are you stuck on your own?

That blows...How bad was the bimmer damage? I mean, even little stuff on them is expensive. I had to replace my hood, front bumper, front left fender, and left door mirror, and it cost about six thousand.

More than likely, but not at this point will I do anything to fix the damages. I've got a huge road trip coming up in August. So I'm trying to save all my money right now. I am on my own with this, but I've got a few friends who can help me out when it comes down to it. Although, I have been considering a CF hood for a very long time. I think I just may get one if I can afford it.

The bimmer itself will need a new bumper for sure. I believe some minor trunk work, and I'm not sure if his taillights will need replacing, or if it was part of the body that shifted causing it to move. I don't know right now. I have to contact him soon to find out. There's only one place here in Utah that he will take the car to be fixed. So, I don't know how much it will cost, but obviously, the damages on his car alone are worth more than my car :screwy:.

Yes, it makes you question the meaning of life and if all cars really were all born equal :grinno::icon16:

At least get a new bumper Chris. Interstate auto supply carries our model new for 31.50. and its black. Not painted, but it will get you by for now. Hoods i think go for around 50 there.

The hood itself is fine. Just the fenders need replacing. And the bumper has a some minor spider webbing in it. Not cracked at all. Just shifted. Although, for that price, I may as well do it. That's pretty damn cheap though.
