Disc brake conversion??

I have a spare 87 GM 10 bolt rearend with drum brakes attached, and i was wondering if it was possible to convert to disc brakes? Are there any kits out there? Also, (preferly for 89) where on the axle is the 10 digit number, which verfies what type of axle you have?

the tag number is on the passenger side axle tube facing the front of the car, youll probly have to use a wire brush to knock off the crud covering it.

as far as conversion kits, they are a pretty big pain in the ass, it can be done, but i think id rather swap in a 9 bolt rear end with disk brakes already attached much much easier, and probly cheaper too, and youll have a better rear end to boot.
