Did some work today....

Man....Took us 1 hour and 15 minutes to get the old headers out. Not bad. Of course, they weren't attached to anything, so that did help.
Got down to the crankshaft bolt, and removing the cam. I don't have a good enough pulley puller for the job, so that might have to wait until next weekend, depending on if I can get a puller. Once the cam is out, I will disconnect all the sensors and such and try to get the LS1 out. Doesn't look like it will be too difficult from the bottom.

Wonder if these are better headers.....
The Kooks are the bottom ones.....much lighter as well.

Dont know if you noticed this or not but you have a big guy stuck under your car. his removal might make the rest of your project much smoother. =)

why are you pulling the camshaft before you pull the engine???? if you want the cam, take it out once you get the engine free of the sheetmetal, i promise it will be easier.

Motor isn't coming completely out for a couple more weeks.
I need to sell the cam ASAP. Sucks having to sell shit to fund the project.....but this new job ain't getting it done, so....
Cam is cake from where I am now. Crank bolt has to come out before the motor....otherwise you need a flywheel stop tool. I can use the weight of the car and the tranny to break it loose.
Anyways....my friend is running to AutoZone to see if they have a big enough pulley puller for us to use. If they do, I will be back out in the garage soon.

I am still gunning for September. Looking like that might be a little rough though.
Got the crank bolt and pulley off tonight. I hate that part.

Yeah....that would have worked...
Update......
Got the crank pulley off, removed the rocker arms, and got the pushrods out. Cam can come out in about 20 minutes now. Just needs a buyer.
And I have all sorts of parts laying on the garage floor....

No kidding.
Getting that damn pulley puller on there right is a serious pain. Came off easy though once it was snug.
Cam comes out tomorrow...
Anyone want a Lunati 226/234 554/575 112 LS1 grind for $225 plus shipping???

glad to say ive never had to deal with it. did the piston rings on a vette by taking off the heads and intake, and oil pan, removed the pistons and connecting rods without pulling the crank, and put it all together.

Brother, I'll tell you what, I've learned, never start a project unless you have all the funding required and then some.
Maybe it's just me, but, I can't stand months of stepping over things trying to get to the other side of the garage. Crap, I guess I should get home and clean my garage and finsih that car, wait, crap, broke without a dime to spare.

Those were some nice pics there and it looks like u got everything under control. Those headers should look pretty sweet on that motor and have plenty of room for install. Dont lose any parts on the ground.

I competely understand your point of view on this. And honestly, I agree.
I had the funds....and a job that was supposed to be secure and paid well. Well, the secure part fell through when the owner lied to me about it. He promised me that the job was mine....then fired me, let me go, whatever.
I already had most everything here and paid for. But now I am down just a couple things. Very close to having it taken care of. But every little bit helps.
That garage is for that car, and that car only. Nothing else is in there.
