300ZX Low Oil pressure/Running on.

I have a 1990 300ZX 2+2 (non turbo Z32). I have had low oil pressure indications for a while however as it was running fine I just assumed everything was OK and mabey just a faulty quage. Now when I first start the engine the hydraulic tappets are extremely noisey. This would indicate to me that realy do I have an oil pressure problem. I am going to put a guage on the engine at the oil pressure sender outlet (If i can find it) however does anybody know where the oil pressure pump it located on the engine. I have been told if it is not in the sump it could be behind the timing belt area. Does the engine have to be removed and what is the procedure. Also when I turn the key to stop the engine It will keep running indefinately (Not pre-ignition). It runs a little rough when this happens. The alternator light comes on which would indicate that it is turning this off. I have to fiddle with the switch to turn if off but this appears to be OK - sounds like a solenoid?

please read FAQs etc.. and this should be in the nissan z-cars section. you've put this in the new catagories suggections section, if you keep doing this the mods will remove you.
