what sub size for rock?

I listen to more rock music than anything else so I don't want something that is going to be ridiculously loud. I was looking at either an 8" sub or a 10" sub. Something that hits fast,clean, and hard. What size would be best for rock music? I am looking at the audiobaun (I spelled that wrong probably) 8" sub or the 10" sub. Also I kinda wana get it shipped enclosed already. Any ups or downs to having it pre-enclosed? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. O yea... 2000 GS-R

Yea a 10" in a sealed box will give you a nice punchy sound. If its metal tho, and you want that crazy kick drum, a ported 12". I always prefer one higher wattage sub that two lower wattage subs. It sounds better.

but see even though the 12 can hit all those ranges the 12 will have a slower responce time and there for will not sound as good with a faster pace bass...for rock i would say you would want a 10.

Not nesseciarly, a high quality 12 can move like a 10 if its properly matched with an amp. It really depends on what type of rock you listen too.

go with a nice 12 with an amp that can push it properly, because one 10 just doesn't do very well by itself. one 12 is the best solution to the problem. good luck.

I listen to rock only basically. Get a 12" sub. You'll regert it if you only get a 10". Just try and get a bass boost remote contoller with your amp. It makes it super simple to adjust for the right bass at the drivers seat.

One 12 in a sealed box. Powered by a two channel amp bridged. Better bass response. Deeper tones. Audiobahn would be a good buy. They sell pre-enclosed boxes that are tuned to their subs. I listed to a wide array of music and my two Momo 12's are good but I have pre adjusted EQ settings in my head unit. JZ/LP wails on them without the EQ. If you buy without an encolsure you could build yourself or pruchase a Q-form box.

i listen to a lot of rock also i have 2 12" eclispe aluminum cone subs in an enclosed box, it sounds really good if you just tune your deck and amp together right then if you listen to somthing that you want to have more bass just adjust them acordingly from your deck or get a subwoffer remote that just plus into your amp and mounts in your cabin somewhere

when was the last time they used 10s at a concert? Buy 12s man.

i would go with 1 12 inch JL audio for rock it doesnt skip a beat and is one of the best sounding subs

i don't know if you already installed the sub but, here is the best one i have seen for rock. The R series sub, 10 inch, you only need 1! expecially for rock. A 10" will hit mostly high's which is what rock uses, double bass is high, and the bass guitar is high also. A 12 inch hits in the middle highs and lows, that is what rap uses a lot, and then after 12 it is only lows, which is only for rap and other types of music, but def. R series open shelf! 10" sub.

I am now completely confused. What is an R-series ? 10" speakers hit mostly highs ? How silly of me, and all this time that's what I have been using tweeters for. At what frequency(ies) does double bass and bass guitar play so I have some sort of reference. What is R series open shelf ?
