correct spark plug gap B2600i?

Ok, damn Haynes manual omits the spark plug gap for the 2600, but says .034" for all the smaller engines. (Mazda manual, no mention at all.)

NGK website says .044" for the 2600i, but it also says .044" for the same models that the manual says .034" for. Is NGK wrong in this case, or does each plug mfgr require different gaps that will differ from the manuals?

What gives? What do I go with? Thanks.

The plug gap should be on one of the stickers under the hood as it is required by law on all vehicles.

Factory manual says to gap the plugs between .039" to .043"

NGK numbers are ZFR5F-11, and ZFR6F-11, the only difference between the two is the ZFR6 is a hotter plug.

Ngk in all there wisdom makes hotter plugs lower numbers, the 6 is in fact colder.

Thanks guys. Would gapping a little tighter make the plugs not get as hot? The Bosch platinum plugs I put in a couple years ago showed signs of getting pretty hot.

Also, that sticker is not under the hood. Must've fallen off or been removed. I was looking for that. Thanks again.

Personally i would leave the gap at .044. Closing the gap some can cause you to not burn all the fuel in the cyl , as well as faster fouling , mazda engines were always known to run a little hotter , specially in the # 4 cyl closest to the firewall.
I chance plugs on all my vehicles once a year , regardless , for the low cost of plugs you save more in gas over the year.
