I think I may have left my lights on when I left last Friday. I got back a week later and it was dead. It started up with a boost so I thought I would drive it a bit and got to a stop sign 2 miles away and it died. It barely started and I drove back home and charged the battery for several hours. It still turned over slow but started. It was idling lower than normal and would idle for about 5 to 10 minutes then die. It would start up again. I tested the battery and it was low I checked the Alt. and it was working. I put in a new battery and it still won't idle more than a few minutes and then die. I set the throttle at 1000 rpm and it still died after a few minutes. I am thinking Crank Position Sensor or have I missed something? I checked for codes and nothing showed. The jeep was fine when I left .. HELP !

well that didn't work.. I had the battery checked and it did have 2 dead cells. So I bought a new one and I also changed the crank position sensor ( no skin either) so should I now try and find the throttle position sensor?

try that or the MAP sensor and when it dies does it spudder to a stop or just shut off if maybe a fuel problem

No it just keeps idling slower and slower then stalls it may take 4 or 5 minutes so I guess it could be running out of fuel.. where is the MAP sensor?
Thanks

when standing in front of the jeep look straight ahead and its right on the fire wall you can't miss it yeah it really does sound like your having some kind of fuel problem have you checked your pump

I think the pump is ok because it will start immediately after stalling maybe turns over 2 or 3 seconds and starts. It then will idle fine for a few minutes then just slow down and stall. How can I test the MAP sensor ? I checked for codes and nothing came up. The check engine light doesn't come on either.
Thanks

have you checked out your TPS with what you just told me I doubt it the MAP also if you rev it up does that have any abnormal reaction and will it say running longer if you apply the gas

Yes it runs great when I give it the throttle. I tie wrapped it at 1000 rpm and it ran fine until I took it off. Is the TPS between the throttle and the firewall? It looks like it has two screws that hold it on? Does it have to be adjusted or a staright bolt on replacement?

TPS is located on the throttle body assembly in the front of the unit its black and believe that there only two screws that hold it in place and it is a direct bolt on replacement also how long did you jeep sit for

It sat a week it was raining when I parked it and may have left the lights on. I left for Michigan and was gone a week when I cam eback it was dead so I boosted it and it started but stalled when I got to a stop sign. So I came back home new battery and CPS it runs fine just won't idle
