Hi,
I have a 93 lx 3.8 thunderbird, It starts up and runs fine but the battery drains. I drive it about 5 miles in the city and it drains the battery so much that the engine dies. After recharging the battery, It runs fine for about 5 miles. I took the alternator and battery to autozone, they both checked out to be in perfect condition. No corrosion on the cables, they are all tight. All the fuses are fine, fusible link in the alternator circuit is fine... Does anyone have any suggestions??? All help is greatly appreciated, thanks, Mike

Have you done any custom wiring? Check for shorts in stereo/speaker wires, and the sort. You most likely have a short somewhere. This will sound stupid, but make sure the positive battery terminal is covered. Listen for sparking sounds throughout the car when it is not running, and also when it is running. If all else fails, check for shorts throughout the car with a tester. This problem may be as easy as a miswired after-market stereo (like happened with my buick I used to have), or as complicated as a shorted chip somewhere in the car. Hopefully it'll be easy for you to find, providing that is the problem.
