Okay, here's a problem that has been plaguing me for about a month now, and is stressing me out beyond all comprehension!
I drive a 1989 GMC Sierra C1500...On the passenger side underneath the hood, up near the windshield is a big block of wires that are grounded to the firewall (picture below), and one of the wires went out a month ago due to corrosion. It says 'fusible link' on it. I just cut it off at a healthy spot on the wire, bought a connector and some new wire, and re-groudned it. It was working for a couple weeks, but since then I've replaced it two more times. What happens is, when I turn my key to "on", I have power in the cab. CD player, A/C, everything works..when I turn the key to start the truck, I lose all power, the engine doesn't turn over, and that wire that I pictured gets very hot. Basically, my truck doesn't start.

I'm just wondering if any of you know where exactly that wire leads too, I think I'm going to want to replace the wire in it's entirety..
Thanks to anyone who can help me out.
PS, I know the connections look super half-assed, haha..I was tampering around with the wire again today to try and get it to work, to no avail :(.

Heh
I don't know too much about wiring but I do know if there was a fusible link there before, you need to get another one to replace it .I did the same thing as you on an older truck for the starter and it did all kinds of weird things!!

Those are not grounds. It is a power distribution block. You need to replace that fusible link you cut out and replace it with the same size fusible link. Make sure all connections are clean and tight.

Ah, alright..thanks.
Still curious though, do you have any idea where that particular wire runs to?

I dont remember right off hand, if you look on top of that power distribution block it should say, I believe all terminals are labeled.

Nope, it's not labeled...gahhh this is so frustrating, haha.
And, thanks to capitalism, I can't find any manual on the internet to download for free haha..
