ok, i know i posted awhile ago bout needing a transmission, but ive had trannys go out on me before and this one just doesnt feel right. i mean it probably is the tranny, but here goes....when its cold it slips when its warm shes almost perfect. could it be my filter or somethin else? and then my 4 wheel drive....ok i push the button and nothin happens, could it be my switch that needs replaced? i know this is probably a newbie question but this is my first actual SUV or truck for that matter. i mean ive driven my dads big nissan truck before he sold it and doinked with the 4wheel drive in it, and his 95 blazer, but both were with the stick 4wheel drive, where you put it in gear that way. anyways if anyone could help....thanks, oh and sorry its so long

What you can do is find a reputable Tranny place and call and ask them, if it would be a tranny problem. My suggestion do not call Tanner Transmission. If you check the BBB website they should have a list of good and bad companies. You could have the tranny serviced. I have been told that a power flush when they leave the filter on (Most oil places do) is not good on the Tranny. The 4 wheel drive are you in Neutral? Three mechanics ahve told me you should always ingage high for about 5 miles everymonth and low for about 100 feet to keep from getting flat spots and a check up once a year, to make sure nothing is broken. Good luck.

yea, im always in neutral when i try to engage it. ive heard that explorers of this year range have had problems with the 4wheel drive switches goin out. i can get a tranny from the junkyard that would probably be reliable and for a way decent price. but also its a 50/50 deal. the guy i know there gets the parts i need an sells them to me cheaper then what i would if i would go to the counter and pay for them, and if i did this i wouldnt have the "30 day warranty, no cash back credit only" deal. so im kinda tossed on what to do. i mean i could probably pick it up for $100-$150. but thats why i was asking if anyone had a or knows of an explorer with a bad motor and good tranny in the midwest.
