Ok my 94 SL automatic is horrible from a stop. My acceleration is just to bad for me. I need to know, what is the best mod for acceleration on an SL? I have heard some good things about some 10 dollar intake resistor chip off of intake from my buddys non turbo stealth auto. What do yall think is the best boost for acceleration though?

I think that resistor chip your talking about is prolly a bs lie, I've heard of people buying them, and they don't do shit to the car. well to get the greatest Hp gain immediatly would be to S/C the car, or do a TT swap, however that can be costly, if you want you can get simple stuff like exhaust, intake, or pulleys... and yes the manual conversion is an idea, however it can be costly too, can you be a little more specific as if you want a huge gain or just some of a gain, and a price range???

The chip is a POS, it's not even a chip, it's a 10 cent resistor from radio shack that does nothing, but fool your ECU into thinking the air is 10 degrees colder in the intake...it dumps in more gas and you run richer. Your friend may think it feels faster, but in reality, he is probably running worse.

Well, on the N/A auto, its weakness is from a stop. An N/A auto is more competable with a N/A manual from a roll. The best thing you can do to help your launch is to get a high-stall torque converter. You can either order one from importperformancetransmissions.com or there's a place an hour and a half away from me that did mine for a lot less than IPT, but you'd have to send in your torque converter and you'd have some downtime as it would take them at least a week turn around time, but i believe their webiste is ptcrace.com

He said well if you want them i will sell them to you but i must tell you that with that auto tranny you can only run 7psi or it blow that tranny to shit. Is this true? only 7psi can be ran on my tranny?

Actually, it's the engine that cannot handle the higher boost in the base/sl models because they have 10:1 compression. The VR4/TT has 8:1 compression, so they are able to handle the higher boost.

HAHAHAHAHA, thats the biggest crock i've ever heard.
I've thrown nearly 17 PSI on a 10:1 motor at this tranny on 18T's (20 PSI on 8:1 motor with 18T's threw down approx 510 AWHP). I always love being underestimated.

Basically 7psi is a conservative amount...to be safe if you don't have hte proper supporting mods, that maybe as high as the engine can handle. But as Hotshot and plenty of others have shown, if you have the proper supporting mods, you can definantly boost it higher.

well, just have to make sure that he has a tranny cooler. I ran stock turbos daily at 9 PSI with no other mods but a tranny cooler for a year, so thats not out of the question. Now if your gonna try to go any higher than 10-12 psi on stock turbos, then i'd recommend looking at some better upgrades.
