Mine wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. If you drove around in second it was fine, slow but fine. But when you put it in drive or overdrive the RPM's would go up, like it wasn't shifting or stuck. Mine was the classic transaxle shift solenoid problem on these. But I never experienced any reverse problems.

I had the typical drop down into 2nd gear thing happen, brought it to my "mechanic", he said blown tranny and $2200 to fix. Told him to hold off came on this sight, read a few threads and bought new solenoids and fixed for under $100.00. All I can say is thanks to all.

Haven't been on in awhile, Thought I was of the problem hook. But back on again and found your note. Was you car driving along beautifully most of the time, and then seemed to be, like it was in neautral or something. That's what happened to me, scared the goods out of me! I think my husband thought I was dreaming it up until it happened to him. Its been parked 3 weeks, and we finally took it in. They say it can't be scanned and send us to another shop. They say it was scanned but comes upwith so many codes, they can't make sense of it! We have to take it to a dealer to have computer "flashed". Now I'm wondering if its just the transaxle solenoid, rather than any other major issue(T-fluid is up,red and sweet(not burnt)
Any of this sound familiar. Any ideas.

Solenoids will definetly thro a code. P094 is one of them. What happens a lot is the car will start and drive normally then the solenoid will act up, the SES light will come on, and the trans will shift to second gear. Park car solenoid and will go back into place untill it happens again.

Its not to hard to do. You should be able to do it in an afternoon. These won't be the exact steps. But if you do a search of sweet_william posts he has the steps listed. You need to buy the kit from your dealer. It has 2 new solenoids, a little filter and a metal keeper and longer bolt.
Basically:
Pull the pan. <-should be able to reuse pan gasket
Remove the press pop-in filters.
disconnect wiring connectors.
disconnect linkage arm.
pull valve body from trasmission.
after you have the valve body removed take it apart.
there are several check balls in there so be carefull and make sure you remember where they go.
clean thoroughly once you have it apart.
Replace solenoids and filter.
Put it all back together and use the metal keeper to hold the little filter in that is in-between the shift solenoids.
One of my solenoids was broke and just barely hanging there.
If you need anymore help email me. [email protected]

The kit does come with both solenoids. The reason I knew which one it was because one of mine was broke almost in half. Also if you have a manual or subscription to Alldata it will tell you which transaxle shift solenoid is for 3/4 gear.
I would just replace both. Are you certain this is your problem? I wouldn't jump into if you aren't fairly certain this is even your problem. It was easy for me, but it will take most of an afternoon if you have everything on hand. Just messy and time consuming. If you need any help let me know.
