power window

I had my passenger side window half way down today and heard a LOUD popping noise as I rolled it up. As I waited to regain my composure, within less than 5 minutes the same window suddenly and on it's own, went back down. Of course thats also when the rain started. What in the world is this and how do I fix it? This is on a 2001 JGC.
