Supercharger issues

I recently bought a 1997 Grand Prix GTP with 85,000 miles on it. Within a few weeks, it began to screw up. It idles very rough, feels like it's misfiring at low speed, and there is a rattling sound in the engine. I took it into a mechanic who said that the rattling is coming from the supercharger and that is the source of all of my problems. He did a compression test on my engine and couldn't find any other problems.
After reading some forum discussions about supercharger issues, I decided to try taking the supercharger belt off to see if that would fix anything, but no luck. Same rough idle. Anyone have any advice? I just want to make sure that it is only the supercharger before I put all that money into getting a new one. Thanks!

That was the first thing I did. It did nothing.

I think your going to find that the noise is the coupler in the super charger.

I'd take the car down and have it scanned, Auto Zone does it for free. Find out what codes your bring up. If not, get all the money you have and stand back and throw it at your car.
Also you don't have to replace supercharger. You can replace nose drive for around $300.00. A new SC will run you around $1500.00.
Keep us informed. Good luck.

Used or second hand parts are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. IMO here's the best deal around for a new Eaton M90 Gen3 supercharger for a '97 - '03 GP GTP.
