what kinda race? if its off the line, and im correct in assuming that the M3 is the 3 liter version, youll win, but top end im not sure about. as far as handling, im not entirly sure, i think the M would edge you out, so avoid any road race style courses.

m3 is nothin that you would want to tangle with too often unless your puching some significant numbers. Its handling it excellent, top end is impressive, its your regular high performance european car. Its pretty sweet. They know how to make cars over there thats for sure. But american cars have everyone beat on straight line performance. It takes a lot of money to out handle a foreign sports car, most of the time anyways. Or sick a corvette on them and take care of it. I think the technology that has been put into the corvette is amazing. So much enginuity and creativity. Id own a corvette over anything but a porsche is a close second.

of course if your curious about how youd do against him and you have an extra 50 that you know that you could lose (not saying for sure whether you would or not but its very possible/likely) id do it.

you're gonna get owned...save your 50 and get some mods....

You need some more engine mods to get you over 350 hp and a few small suspension mods. The only thing the M3 has over you is price, your car has more potential, there wasn't much foreign or domestic that could out handle the IROC in its day...Corvette was it. With more HP and stronger suspension you'd leave him wondering what hit him.
With my current mods the only stock car I have any respect for is a Z06, and if I ever find a good price on a Vortec S/C, they will also be my victims.

wait, i just realized that youve got that 350 H.O. in there. thats 330hp from the factory right? with headers, ported heads, high flow exhaust, and cold air, you might have the power to step out on him from a standing start. depending on how well you know the guy, id say lets run for 25 bucks, just for fun. and do a stoplight to stoplight run and see who takes it. although, what rear gears does your car have? and are you a manual or auto tranny?

i thought you had the 305 in there.....lol....well then i guess you have a good chance...

i still say avoid any windy racing cuz youll lose, i agree with morley that in its day the IROC was nearly king of the hill, but it aint 89 anymore. or if the guy is a complete goof and cant drive, then feel free to take his money ;)

lol, let some air out of his tires... not all the air, if the tired dont have the right amount of air it messes with the handling

Stop light to stop light you should spank him good, on those short distances torque decides the victor.

oh and btw, i didnt say let all his freaking air out, just like 10 - 15 psi.. when he starts to push it he will feel the handling is off an wont push it to its limits... so he loses..

Well sorry it took a while to reply but i've been freaking sick, well anyways, i raced him down some empty industrial street and i owned him twice, the first time was by 1 car legnth, and the second time i got the perfect launch and smoked him by two car lengths

Yay for the camaro. Obviously you got a bumpin motor there....or you raced a bum bum driver. But lets assume the bumpin motor....

he looked pretty depressed when he handed me the 100 bucks because the first time i took him was for 50bucks then after i took him he told me double or nothing, well the camaro doubled the money. too bad i was sick to enjoy the money this weekend though,

What induction you have hooked up to that 350? and which model is it?

SMOKINGIROC
07-12-2005, 02:19 PM
it has the hi-flow vortec tpi

Which model crate motor is it?

FormulaLT1
07-12-2005, 02:33 PM
Well since you have vortec. You most likely have gm parts # 12486041 , which is rated at 330 Horse. Throw some headers, a catback and a port and polish and your making somewhere around 370 -380. Thats alot of friggin power in a semi light 3rd Gen. I would have put my money on you for the win as well.

yeah it's pretty freaking fast i owned me a c4 vette this sunday on my way to church

I use to have some mean C4's, boy I miss the clamshell hood. That shit was like a pleasure cruise to work on compared to this friggin cramped F-body engine bay.

SMOKINGIROC
07-12-2005, 02:50 PM
well the third gens have a hell of alot more room to work in than a fourth gen, everything is just crammed in there.

89camaroperson
07-12-2005, 02:52 PM
sweet. Easy money. Thats pretty good that. M3's are still no joke. Stock ones are just ok fast...but modified one can get pretty crazy. Nothin like the ole' camaro though

FormulaLT1
07-12-2005, 02:54 PM
Don't kid yourself, a stock M3 is LS1 Vette fast. They are monster. I have driven them and I was feeling the power big time.
