srs light and check engine light

I have a 90 525. My srs light will flash when I first start it. After driving for awhile it stops flashing but stays on. also my check engine light will come on and go off at what seems like random. any help?

For the check engine light, do a STOMP Test (with your gas peddle) and see what codes you get.

The SRS light, on the other hand, can only be reset with a special tool. Sometimes you can borrow one from a BMW club member in your area. If that does not work, the Dealer will charge you between $75 and $200. That is because they have to diagnose the problem and fix it. However, if you know the light is on because let's say you removed the instrument cluster and turned on the ignition...And all you need is a quick reset of the SRS light, you might be able to convince the dealer to do it for a 1/2 hour labor rate. Note: To reset the light only takes 5 minutes or less, but they Steeler will still try to bill you for 1 hour.
