My 98 grand voyager is doing something weird. About a month ago I started the van and it died right away. It did thid 6 times. Then it wouldn't start at all. Wouldn't even crank , but I still had full battery. I had the van towed and when it got to the shop it started right away. Two weeks later the same thing happened. Once it was towed to the shop it started right away. Last week after it died I hit the steering column it started right up and it was fine. Yesturday it did it again but this time I had to beat on the column till I heard a zap and it was fine. The shop has looked at the van and the steering column 3 times and can't find anything wrong. HELP

Has anyone checked the ignition switch? I had a simular problen with an Olds, it turned out to be a loose fuse connection. Could also be a loose ground wire, battery connections etc. The clock spring which is currently covered under recall is in the steering column below the air bag.
