Whats wrong with my 86?
As soon as I start it up, the steering wheel and the whole car in general starts to vibrate bad. I dont believe its the motor mounts, or the tranny mount but someone said it could be the harmonic balancer, is this true? what could this be and how can I fix it? it is a 4 cyl. auto.

yes, it could be a harmonic balancer but I doubt it, Is there any type of pinging or a rubbing sound?

the easiest way, while engine is running, pull off one spark plug wire at a time, if the rpm drops, that engine was firing. if the shake stays the same and no drop in rpm is noticed or shake does not get worse, that is the cylinder that was not firing.
but use some protective gloves or wire puller, so you don't get a shock from the current.
another way is to check your spark plugs, but i usually try and check as mentioned above, and then go from there.

My car has a vibration to, causes the fly wheel to break every year and a half, i am being to believe its my Harmonic Balancer. I'm going to change it and see what happens.

Yea I heard from a few people that if it is doing it while it is idling it is the flywheel or the harmonic balancer FOR SURE. So Im gonna check em out asap. Does anyone know if the 2.8 or 2.2 or whatever is a 4 cyl or v6? its a 4 cyl huh? well lemme go find out soem more info.
