smoothing and shaving

Guys and gals, maybe someone can enlighten me here. I have a Hilux truck, the body dropped version 2 with the phantom grille and all. I am wondering how to make the whole body smooth so there are no body lines at all. I have Squadron white putty...do I need something stronger? Do I need to go out and use BONDO? Also, grit of sand paper...320--400?? Also shaving door handles, tail-lights and possibly the corner lights up front. It would be awesome if I could get some quick replies, cuz my VIP Celsior is 99.0 done and the truck is next! I would really appreciate it.

That putty and some 440 grit will do just fine. Just apply it where you want it shaved and spread it with your finger so you won't have to sand as much. Stretch it out per say. A scribing tool won't be neccesary unless you want to get some putty out of your body lines.

Hmmm, that be pretty messy. I'd use some epoxy putty or some styrene for that. Tamiya makes some good epoxy putty. I've heard good things about Milliput as well, but I've never tried it. A good idea is when you're done to spray a light coat of primer to make sure everything is smooth. Glad I could help!

ok cool, i was thinking for the tail/head lights...put the lenses in only, then use the Squadron white putty over it to fill in the gaps and sand smooth. Good idea?

Actually, thats a great idea. Make sure you really superglue those lights down so they won't come off. You'll also wanna sand any sort of texture off of them so it doesn't interfere with the paint. Then just apply some putty to the edges and you're done!
