Hello everybody, i finaly decided to sign up after a long time of just browsing here. and well ive looked through most of the threads so i know more than i previously know, and ive noticed nisco is the ruler of these here forums :).
uhmm well im curently taking drivers ed right now and ever since i played NFSU2 and i bought the tib in the game, i just fell in love with it ^_^. so my question to you is should i wait to get the 06 or the 07. cuz i heard that the 07 would be completely redone with RWD. if i do get the 06 V6 GT and ive searched autotrader alot, what would be the cheapest price near or in Cleveland??
whatch this space for more noobish quetions :)
thanks in advance :)

my best advice to you, is that since you are going to be a brand new driiver, i suggest you DO NOT buyy a brand new car. Honestly, get some experience under your belt, buy an old used whatever car... or jus use moms car haha
cause if you get into an accident with your brand new tib, not only will you be pissed off but your insurance will rape you
everyone is still waiting on final details on the 07 model.. but nothing has been "officially" announced
you can find a good amount of pre owned tibs like 03s or 04s
but if you do end up gettin an 05, shop around, and leanr how to talk to teh dealer.. you wanna go there knowing more about teh car than he does.... and if you read enough around here you will

ok i kinda was thinking of going used. my dad has a 99 mirage 2dr and my mom has a 98 Dodge Caravan. so i dont really plan on learning with the caravan. i started out with the mirage and well i like it. its small compact. i was thinking about moding it but we just put 90K on it about 2-3 weeks ago. so that would be out of the question.
How many miles do you expect i should shoot for on a used GT automatic??

if your going to buy a used one from 03-04 then the resonable amount of mileage is from 15k up to say 40k but the more milage the worse it will take to any mods you may want to put on.. remember that

oh poo. my parents really arnt in a money crunch but are close to getting there. my dad wants to build a new garage and they started planing for it about 1.5years a go and the stupid city keeps on fscking up  so well i may just as well get a SRI, a new hood, and a throaty exhaust for the mirage. do you guys think that the car having 90K miles on it will the engine reject the parts and not want them??

if he's not very good at driving, i'd get him a 1st gen (i love my fiance's 2nd gen, and wouldn't want to ever see one hurt)
the i4 is fine by itself and can be modded pretty easily and turbo'd...
plus, imo the 2nd gen is the coolest looking generation tib out.

i'm not a big fan of honda or toyota... hyundai, i'd get a tib.... honda's and toyota get good gas mileage... but damn.... tibs are HOT.
my girl's has like 33k miles on it... and she bought it brand new in 01.

From what I've heard, mitsu is known for engine & tranny trouble. My mechanics told me to stay away from mitsu.

Just thought I'd remeind you that this is the only continent with the Acura name badge. On every other continent, the Acura Integra was called the Honda Integra, and the Acura RSX is STILL called the Honda Integra everywhere else. Don't forget, if you look at the valve cover on the engine block on an Integra, the windsheild glass, etc...it all says Honda and has the H on it. Even on the RSX, if you remove the plastic Engine Shroad cover, the valve cover on the block itself, it still has the Honda H on it. Here, an Acura is a Honda for all intensive purposes. Everywhere else, it really IS a honda. The Acura TSX is the JDM Honda Accord, for example...the Acura RSX the Honda Integra everywhere else, etc. If you can't stand honda...it would make sense to hate acura also, seeing as they are one in the same, and the "acuras" are called "hondas" on every other continent. :2cents:

if you decide to buy one go with a 1st or 2nd gen for your first car... Insurance will be easier then buying a brand new v6... I picked up my 01 for about 6 grand with 64k miles on it... but I used to be a car salesmen so I know how to get what I want.
DJ SlipStream
07-21-2005, 01:52 PM
yeah im deffinately not getting an integra. why? because its the most stolen car in america, so insurance for it would hit the roof. i'll maybe stick with an 03 V6 Automatic.

i dont know, alot of people put 150K on a mirage easily with out problems. but one thing i dont like is that the new eclipse GS has ~168HP and the GTS or w/e has ~260HP. uhmm wtf?!

I'll try to explain the deal with the Mitsubishi Eclipse (DSM). The Eclipse is also known as a "DSM," which stands for Diamond Star Motors. This is due to the joint colaberation between Chrysler and Mitsu on it (the Plymouth Lazer and Eagle Talon were the other 2 DSM's.
Now, not all Eclipses are eqaul. The RS and the GS Eclipse (DSM) have the same 420 motor as a base Neon. Thery are basically a different looking Neon. Eclipse body, Chysler Neon Drivetrain. The GS-T and GSX Eclipse's, the 2 turbocharged versions, have the famed Mitsu 4G63 motor...a considerably better motor in both realibility and performance. The 95-99 2nd Gen Eclipses (7-bolts) can suffer crankwalk at elivated power levels. Some do, some don't. You'll have to crank it to find out. If it doesn't suffer crankwalk, the block is good for 400hp. Howevere, stay under 275-300 and you should be fine. he 1st gen eclipses (6-bolts) don't have this issue, so your good to what the block can take, so to speak. Some ppl opt to put the 6-bolkt motor into the newer 2nd gen chassis.
This is a pretty quick and dirty explaination of the Eclipse, but I thought I'd go over it breifly since it was mentioned.
BTW, I hear you on avioding the Integra thanks to it's yearly ranking as the most stolen (or one of the most stolen) cars in America. This last year, 1 in ever 200 1999 Integras was stolen (according to the insurance institute).
