Hey,
Has anyone used the above product?, we use it at work for taking casts of moulds.
Basically what it is, is a liquid plastic that you mix, then in 30mins is sets into a solid white plastic, I was using it today an was thinking that there must be some application I can put it to use in in my modelling.
Any ideas?
Dan.

I use Smooth-Cast but I use the faster setting variant.
It comes in several formulation depending on the setting time you require.
Basically, what you're using is what we refer to here as resin, essentially a plastic resin at that. Do a search and you'll see it's used pretty extensively.

Ahh..cool, we use 321, sets in 30mins, and seems to give a good finished result.
Its also pretty cheap to, I will do a search on resin and see what comes up.
Cheers

Alumilute is pretty good, in my limited experience (Cured in like 10 minutes).

I have a lot of space to fill in, is this stuff good for that sort of thing? I have Bondo filler, but I don't know if it's strong enough. This is something I can't use styrene for.

Resin is really not a good filler, compared to Bondo, or better, a 2part putty. As for at home casting, use the Alumilite, it's quick, and will give a strough stable product when cured.

Bondo Body Filler doesnt stick to plastic. I'd use something like epoxy putty.

I've used both the Alumilite and Smooth-On resins, I can assure you the Smooth-On resins are 100% better.
