Ok, I just want to set something strait. . . When I floor it in my car it accelerates fine untill I hit 65 then sslloowwly accels. to about 75.. then accels faster again. Is this normal?
Also, I raced a friends 05 Elantra at the drags, Both floored it at the same time.. I sat there for a sec. burning some rubber then started to move... what should I do to get the initial umph instead of just peeling out? (I also heat the tires up just before we race.)

not sure if thats normal, that could be where the torque and hp curves meet and theres a bit of both, but not a lot of either... i dunno lol
dont heat your tires, just a quick spin to clean them off, i remember reading that heating your non-drag radials/slicks actually hurts performance. use throttle control.

Hmm, not too sure as to why it would slowly accelerate up to 75. Approx. how many seconds does it take? Could be normal. The 3.4's are pretty slow stock. Especially with the restrictive intake and exhaust that comes on them. Trust me, I would know.
As for the the burning of the rubber... You mean the rear right rubber right? lol. The 3.4's apparently weren't good enough to get posi like the V8's. It sucks, I know. If you ever save up enough, try going to a junk yard to pick up a trans am/z28 rear end. That's what I'm gonna do. That way you'll get the posi and rear disc brakes along with it. I figure it'll be cheaper that way. And with the posi turning both rear tires instead of the one, that should definately give you more traction.

the slow acceleration from 65 to 75 and then picking back up again isnt normal, sounds like a weak clutch pack or band in the transmission.
as far as burning out, dont do it with radial tires, the rubber melts and then beads up creating lots of little ball bearings on your tires which kill traction, just a quick spin to clean em off. no more than that, if you see smoke you did it too long. as for the loss of traction, i dunno, try, modulating the throttle????? lifting off a little bit till the tires bite and then pressing it back down will do wonders. try not to floor it right off the line, snap it down to about 1/2 or 3/4 throttle whichever allows traction, and then press it all the way down at a slower rate as the car accelerates and can absorb the power.

Ok, It takes aprox 4-5 sec from 65-70 thats where I loose alot of my races... Ok no more burn outs for me then. I really did help when I didnt floor it off the line. Took my friend ALOT easier after that.
And you were right blindxeyed, REAR RIGHT tire is the one that spins. Also, posi? Not familliar with that. Something dealing with a split axel or whatnot?

its a solid axel. You just have open differentials which only drive one wheel at all times. As opposed to limited slip or posi where its still only one wheel unless that wheel starts spinning then the other one engages. Greatly improves traction.

id reccomend trying to find a zextel torsen unit, they handle up to 400 hp and are a geared torque biasing differential that will offer far superior traction without the problems of clutch packs wearing out in posi rear ends. and with the sixer, you shouldnt have to worry about over powering it anytime soon.

A zextel torsen unit, how much do you think that will run? Installation/cost? Ill most likly look at the junk yard.

i have one that i paid 145 for, complete with 3.23 gears. seeing as my IROC has a 9 bolt which isnt compatable with the 10 bolt, its just takin up space. PM me if you might be interested. as far as an install, i think my local dealerhip quoted me like 350 bucks for an install.

Sounds like an option. Ill get back to you on that if I decide to go that direction.
