i need a litttle info on how to program a keyless entry system for my 98 blazer. ya see the thing is, i don't even know if it came with a factory keyless remote, i don't even have the original key. i do however have my mom's keyless remote that went to her 2000 blazer which has recently been repoed. I am pretty sure that the two models are compatable with each other but i still need some help on figureing out what i can do.

First check the RPO codes in your glove box. If you have keyless, you will have the AU0 RPO code. This denotes keyless. Then follow these intructions: (even though your moms remote looks like it may work, it may not as frequencies vary from year to year, confirm the part number at the dealership parts department, any gm dealer will do)

Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.
Press and hold the door unlock switch.
While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.
Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.
Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters.
Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter mode.
Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.
Note: All transmitters must be programmed at the same time.

ya know i don't think i see that, and i have already tried the close all doors, hold unlock and turn ignition on off on off and still nothing. i am going to guess that my blazer doesn't have the keyless entry system. Would would be the cheapest way to go from here? Could i salvage some kind of part off a different blazer? I have looked into an aftermarket system but really don't want to pay 200$, plus another 200$ for installation or could i do it myself? I really need some help on this.

First, did you check for the AU0 RPO in your glove box? If so you have keyless, but the remote you're using isn't the correct remote.
If you decide on a keyless entry, remote start, alarm system, you can get them for 80-100 bux (I picked up my prestiege for about 75 and I love it) and install it yourself. It's not rocket science. I much prefer my after market one to the GM stock one.
