420A alternator Replacement....

OK so i know my alternator has compleatly died, its old so its gone. Someone was telling me youd have to take out the passanger half shaft to get to the alternator, is this true? Or just wondering if its hard, this is my first Jappo Car so im not used ot stuff on the bottom. Just give me an idea on how hard it is, or if i can do it in the parking lot like a normal car.

It's easier if the car was up on a lift. It's kinda hard to get to all the bolts, so make sure you have many long rachet extensions and ones that twist all around. I was just working on mine yesterday to try to fix the belt. I dont think you have to take out anything to take out the alternator. You might actually be able to take it out through the top. Just take out all the cruise control stuff on the passenger side. The one box is bolted on the firewall, while another is bolted on the frame. Good luck. I would suggest taking it in to a shop and watchin how they do it.

well i was able to unbolt it all, and take off the wires, also i took off the top mount, i cant get it to slide out the top, and sujestions? Otherwise its looking like eiter the intake manifold or the passanger half shaft have to come out also. id like to finish the job, even know my alternator isnt here yet, so if u can throw me some ideas!

to add to this.... i need to get an alternator for m car that has more then 90 amps..... cause my system is killing it lol.... anyone know where i can get a direct bolt on alternator for my car

the alternator comes out from the bottom....it's not the easiest thing to get out and you have to work it around to get it out. it's even tougher to get it back in. i did it without removing the half-shafts or manifold or anything.
