Looking to purchase a 1990 LSi Metro Conv

I am looking @ a 1990 Geo Metro LSi convertible to purchase. The car takes a lot of cranking before it starts and only runs for a couple of minutes. The seller believes it needs a fuel pump. Can anyone help me with this ? Could it be anything else ? How much will I have to invest to repair a fuel pump ?................Thanks !!

fuel pump is a small job. How much are you getting the car for? And what condition is it in? It could be lack or fuel or spark that causes it to fail. And either side have many many things that could cause it. Relay, bad pump, bad coil, bad injector resistor, bad distributor.. If it takes a minute to crank, check the compression, it may be time for a new engine. For the right price, it would be well worth it. If not, send him this way, i'll take it :) hehe

They are asking $ 850.00 for the car. There are a couple of minor dents, the trunk lock is broken and the ragtop window needs to be replaced. I had it running for less than 2 minutes and the engine was running smoothly with no smoke. I believe it would pass inspection if I could get it running. The plugs, cap and coil wire were replaced. I will try to get the seller to agree to let me have it checked out tomorrow. Thanks for replying geozukigti :) :)
