surging and stalling and hard starting

I just spent $2700 on a new tranny and got my Jimmy back with a new problem. The dealer wants $85 just to look at it and GM all but told me to take a flying leap when I asked for thier help with the dealer. I brought it in with one problem and they delivered it back with another. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this surging and occasional hard starting? Could something have happened during the replacement of the tranny, loose wiring?????

It's a 2001 with 68,000 miles. Aside from the actual possible solution, would there be any possibility of something that might be related to the physical replacement of the new (rebuilt by GM) transmission? Loose connections etc.
Thanks for your interest

I highly doubt it.
Check your battery for proper charge.
Do a tuneup.

Thanks for the info. but the battery is new and it was tuned 16k ago. Surging is a fuel issue of some kind, i was just hoping that someone had experienced a similiar problem.

I feel real stupid but I have no idea. Since it was a dealer I can only assume that they have a standard GM Tune-up whatever that is.
Sorry, Peter

Sorry to keep bugging you. Someone suggested the Idle Control Sensor. Does that make any sense to you?
Thanks,
Peter

That won't affect the starting though.
I think a fuel filter is in order for you.
