Hey, i just got my first car, used, from a local dealership.
I was checking through the forums, and i saw alot of new ideas (up till now, i'd never really been a car person).
Basically, I wanna know where i can find a beginners guide to making my car more appropriate for a 24 year old male with a need for a little bit more speed, and flash.
Call me a ricer if you will, w/e, but I just wanna know.
Are there specific engine adjustments for the 95? I'll be looking up body kits momentarily, tho anything serious into that area will take time.. Anybody experienced with customizing, or working on 95 exs would be appreciated. I'll give you what info i have. which isn't much (I don't know what info i would NEED)
My goal is to make it look better, and make it a little bit more responsive to acceleration.
Again, any help or advice is appreciated.

well first of all you have a good car to work on, however...its not going to give you any huge speed without some serious work. that said, you can definetly make it look better, handle very well and at the same time a little safer and fun to drive. ill go over the basic things you can do:
engine:
some basic easy things you can do to the engine to give it a little more power are : intake, plugs/wires, header, cat back exhaust.
suspension:
lowering spring and shocks or coilovers or matched spring/shock combo. along with an upgraded wheel/tire combo this will make the car handle very well.
body looks:
up to you mostly. what alot of people on AF try to do is keep their car "clean" which is just pretty subtle styling. "we" tend to prefer high quality.
audio:
pretty self explanatory. basically its whatever you want.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Cat back? *blushes with newbieism*
and do you know where i can find more info on the things you mentioned? or should i just google for "95 civic lowering springs" etc?
i'm not looking for huge speed, i just want something that's personalized, and better to drive (acceleration, handling, etc).
I'll learn quick, but i need to know where to learn something first, and that's why i came here.

well... welcome, and as for a good beginners guide... you found one... here... just search and i promise you will find MORE than enough info to satisfy your ever fading "newbieism".. lol but seriously.... just search here and that should answer most if not all of your questions.... oh.. one more thing PLEASE look at the last post date before you post... if its more than a month old, DONT POST IN IT!!! it will only piss people off... instead, creat your own thread asking the question.
oh and i drive a 93 EX with a b18c1 (Integra GSR motor) so any "newbie" questions you have that dont want to post and look like a newbie, feel free to PM me here. or IM me on AIM.

no prob. a cat back is a slang term for an exhaust that runs from the catalytic convertor, which removes most of the toxicity from the exhaust gasses. put simply, a cat back is what you want in terms of performance. as for parts, here are a couple of my favorite sites. good selection of all types of partswww.overboost.com

as greenblurr said, search is your most powerful tool on AF. Also, its a good idea to post your ideas of what you want to do to your car before you do it, that way you can get opinions from people who have been through that already and tell you the best choice.
depending on your cash flow, heres my recommendation for mods you may want to consider. but, its all up to you. its your car.
Cold air intake- if you really have some extra money, go for a nice AEM or Injen. good for about 3-5hp. $200-$400
cat back- Apex, greddy, DC, can be fairly expensive $500-$1000
Springs- H&R, Eibach are my favorites. about $200
shock- KYB AGX, Koni Yellow....many others around $300- unlimited
or coilovers(threaded adjustable shocks) $600-unlimited . Apex, Tein, Tanabe, HKS, tons of brands.
just do some searching ....good luck
