Help with stereo

My buddy has an 2000 S-10 and his cd player is not working. I know a few different things about cd players and would like to take it out to work on it, but do not want to tear his truck up trying to get it out. I know on Fords, there are two holes on both sides of the stereo, and all you do is get a tool that can go into the holes and the stereo pops out. My question is, how do I take the stereo out of my friends Chevy truck? Can I just pop it out somehow like in Fords, or do I have to take the dash apart? If I have to take the dash apart, what all is involved in that?

He lives a few states away and I want to have this info before I go out there on vacation. I have not been in any chevy trucks lately to see how the stereo is mounted.

You will need to tear the dash apart.Start with the trim that is above the pedals,take it off.There is another trim piece under the steering column,take it off.Then there will be some more 7mm head screws that hold on the trim that goes around the radio,take these screws out,the rest of it is held on with snaps.Just pull and it will pop off.Unplug the airbag switch,dimmer,4X4 switch.There's the radio.

What is all the different tools I will need to do this?

A 7mm socket or nut driver and a pick to release the plugins.I think that is it.
