90000 mile tune up and clutch stuff

Well I'm coming up on 90000 miles on my 91 LX. I will be putting in a new air filter, changing the oil, oil filter, new spark plugs, plug wires, and distributor cap/rotor. I have been looking at the BOSCH platinum+4 spark plugs. They cost like $6 each at Shucks and I just wanna know if they are really worth the price. I won't be buying the $.99 pieces of crap, but I just wanna make sure I don't spend more money than I have to.

Also, my clutch is starting to slip in second gear (it has been in first for quite a while). Does my D15b have a cable or hydro tranny, and if it is a cable, is there any way to at least adjust it for the time being to keep it from slipping as much? I will be putting in a new clutch eventually, but I would like to keep the car drivable until then.

I used bosch platinum's before and I didnt like them. I'm sure everyone will be with me when I say go with ngk. As for the tranny, it's cable. I'm not sure how you can cure your slipping problem.

Bosches aren't all that great on Hondas. Go with NGK

NGK all the way.

Clutch..yes..it is adjustable...I can't remember which way to turn the little knob down by the tranny tho. I got 168K out of my original clutch in my 91 DX, so unless you have been really abusing your clutch you probably have more life in it.

Another suggestion would be to replace the fuel filter. It mounts on the firewall and is pretty easy, and about $18.
Also, have you had the timing belt replaced? I replace mine every 75K.

yeah the first owner of my car had really good maintenance done at each of the mile markers, and he drove it really easy too. the timing belt was replaced at 60k miles. would a repair manual that you can buy have information about where to adjust the clutch?

Yes...it would...you can even find that info in the $20 Chilton's manual....but if you have $65 I would highly recommend the actual Honda Service Manual from helminc.com

I think you want to make the cable longer, which will allow the clutch and pressure plate to push on the flywheel harder since the clutch material is wearing out after 90k miles of use. When the cable is too short, it keeps tension on the presure plate and doesn't allow the clutch to fully engage I think. Clutches are weird..I understand the concept and how the work, but I am a visual person and I don't get a visual on the inner workings of them, so I can't really explain it.

well if it isn't to be adjusted longer, then it needs to be shorter, so i'm sure i'll figure it out. thanks a ton for the help guys.
