99 power locks auto lock - how to disable?

I just picked up a 99 Silverado and it has the auto lock (after 15MPH) "feature". The problem is it doesn't unlock - ever. You are trapped in there until you manually hit the unlock switch. I hate this.

The manual reveals nothing about re-programming the locks. My buddy has a 2000 GMC and it details in the manual how to change/disable the behaviour of the locks. We tried the procedure a few times but it doesn't work.

Is there a way to do this, outside of taking it to the dealer?

Thanks

pretty sure just the dealer....but if you have to take it there to take it off...you might as well just have them program it to unlock when you put it in park or when you take the key out...i forget which one it is.

Do you have an aftermarket Alarm? I had a new Alarm installed in my truck and they activated that function of the Alarm.

If you don't then yes it's a function of the BCM.

Check the manual again. In my 99 manual and a 2000 manual ive looked in it says how to change the lock system.

Well, I must be blind - I cannot find it anywhere in the manual for my 99. The 2000 manual does tell you howe, but it didn't work on my 99. If you found it in the 99 manual, please either post the instructions or tell what page/section to find it.

Thanx

On the 99 the only way is to have the dealer program the option into the BCM...which here at home takes about 2 hours and almost $150....
I just chose to live with it, although i HATE them.
