i got a new compressor for my s-10, but it looks like there are two plugs for electrical on the back of the old compressor but not on the new one, there are two spots with retainer clips where the plug ins should be, do I have to change them myself or do I have the wrong compressor?

if in doubt talk to the parts store, that's their job when they sell you something.
if thereis still freon in there You'll have to get the pro's to drain the system, and then they may as well do the job... it's only 15 min or so for them

Just swapped mine out 2 days ago.
Sounds like your talking about the sensors......
If so pop the tension clips out (tiny needle noses work best) pull out sensors put in new compressor pop rings in fill with proper amount of PAG etc. etc.
Hope that helps
