Looking for 85 4 cyl transmission

I recently paid $2000.00 for some retarded mechanics to change and bleed my clutch system. They said they couldn't fix it and took my money anyway. Never do that again, i learned my lesson.

So the only thing left to change is the damn transmission itself.

I am in Canada and am willing to pay for shipping.

Unless a complete overhaul is cheaper. I dunno anymore.

Is this a reasonable price for a used transmission?

standard trans. rarely go inside usually the clutch or hydrolic system. if you do need a new trany any chevy trany from any front wheel drive should work as long as it had the 2.5 attached to it.
check local yards they have a substitution book that will tell them what other trany will work in your car, but i really think your stumpjumper mechanic was the problem. try bleeding the clutch yourself, but first check around slave and resovour for signs of leaking if there is leekage around either of those it is them and not the clutch or trany.
to bleed the slave and hydrolic lines park the car up hill or jack up the front end, put a peace of clear hose on the bleeder nipple for the slave cylinder and run it down to the ground into a clear bottle, i like coffee bottles the large ones. open res. and fill it to the point of overflowing now open the bleeder valve on the slave. now watch for air bubles in the bottle and make sure the res. stays full. you are now gravity bleeding the system. run a pint or 2 threw this way and then close bleeder. the system should be clear of air and flushed of any old fluids. if that doesn't work.
take a stick and hold the clutch down to the floor, then mark slave arm and leave car like this over night, in the morning if the mark has moved you have a leak or a bad slave or master cyl.
if it doesnt move you need to get a new trany, sorry dude.

Bad news for me, but good news for you - my frame's damaged, and I'm forced to scrap my Fiero. If you want my Isuzzu 5 speed transaxle(2.5L factory stock on all 85-88 Fieros) it's yours for $300 + shipping. It shifted great, didn't grind, and seemed fine before my motor died but as a precaution I'll hold your money for 30 days and give you a full refund should you be displeased. Only the return costs will be your responsibility. I'll even give you a warranty in writing.

Not true, most FWD's had different shift linkages, which installed in a Fiero will bend the cables in such a funky position the shift lever will be stiff and hard to operate, and quick cable wear & failure results. The transaxle itself will PROBABLY bolt in OK, but major linkage modification to make it work it almost a given. Other-application transaxle swaps are not for the mechanically impaired.

they will give factory numbered parts and then explain which vehicles they can be found in (or swapped in to).

As of now, nobody has taken me up on the offer, so if you are in need of it, the price still stands. Remember, this isn't the Getrag (V6) 5 speed, it's the Isuzu (85-88 4 cyl) 5 speed.

?????? also the wierdest thing I discovered today. My transmission oil drain plug is, Spot Welded in place.......?
this can't be normal!........could it?
