Ok all you gurus out there, I really need your help.

It seems that the Infinity G20 and the Primer have a slight few differences, and when it comes to cams theses should be considered.

I have a 1999 Nissan Primera and have had a hell of a time figuring if it is a roller rocker engine or a non roller rocker engine. I’ve gone over and over several posts on this site and Jason posted some pics of both engines. Mine is almost identical if not exact to the one show as the roller rocker one. But before I send JWT $450 for the cams I need to know if that is really what I have, is there another way of knowing? Could there be Internet site where motor model numbers are listed and I can find mine and determine what it is?

Also once I remove the valve cover will I need to replace the seal “I think its called a gasket”

JWT claims to have roller rocker S3 cams for the 99 Primera but doesn’t recommend buying the springs. Will I need stronger springs?

I understand that the gain these cams offer compared to what HS headers offer is less but its easier for me to ship cams than headers into Costa Rica do you recommend I stick to these cams or pay a bit more for shipping and get the headers or both?

Please Advise

Thanks

Why don't you just pull the calve cover and look? Pulling the VC takes 15 minutes and would tell you for sure.

I am no mechanic but im willing to give it a shot, will this in any way damage the head gasket? and is there anything I should take into consideration befor doing so?

If I'm going to remove the valve cover I could go ahead and clean it while im in there, but the most important and please forgive my ignorance, what am i looking for? I asume rollers but i have no point of comparisson.

Thanks

If your engine is stamped with SR20 then you are good, look to the right of you header on the block somewhere.

not necessarily if your *really* careful, but it is HIGHLY recomened. REusing gaskets is not a good practice to start. New valve cover gaskets (youll need two different ones) will run about $30 USD

JWT is a very reputable company, if they say they have it, they have it. No you will not need new springs. Im running S3 cams and havent run into problems.

You will see a bigger gain with the headers than the cams, but combined really kick ass!!! Go fo both.

Oh yeah, you dont go that far down to mess with the head gasket, its the valve cover gasket that you get to with installing cams...

Installing cams is pretty simple, just take your time and make sure you have all the tools and gaskets necessary. Namely a 26mm(?) socket, 1" open wrench, and torque wrench that goes down really low.

My 1997 SR20 has roller rockers so 1999 will have. Goodluck with the JWT's i wanted them a while back, but they hadnt finished making them. Good choice though.
