An Interesting Night

I had a very interesting night last night. The whole thing started on the 4th when I met my friend Shawn at a gas station. He is the best guy to work on a modified car in the area. He has a 95 Neon with a 420a. About a month ago he blew the shit out of his engine (a piston just disintegrated, the biggest piece was about the size of a quarter) so he bought a new 420a and built it. He had the block bored over .020, and completely built the bottom end and all but new cams and valves up top. He called me last night while I was at work to see if I want to help him put this beast back in. I told him that I would love to but I didnt know where he lived. He told me to call him when I was ready and he would give me directions. After work (8:00) I go home and change and I was writing a note for my parents telling them where I was and they came home so I just threw the half written note away. I go out and tell them that I was going to his house to drop his engine in and that I would be home in the morning. So I go out and we almost got the thing put in, but he lost some thing for the turbo, I think it was a oil line fitting or something. So we just called it quits at about 2:30, went inside and looked at cars and went to bed around 3:00. He had to work early so I woke up at 10 and he was gone. I waved to his mom on my way out and she told me to call my mom. I was a little curious as to how my mom got his house number because I didnt even have it. I drive to my other friends house (Mike) to pick him up because we were going to work on his sisters car. I get to his house and hes got this big ass shit eating grin on his face. I ask what was so funny and he tells me this: that I was in deep shit. Apparently when I told my parents that I was staying the night, they didnt believe me and were wondering where I was when I didnt show up for 12:00 curfew. My mom called my cell phone like 20 times, but I didnt get shit for reception at his house. So they called Mikes house at 1:30 trying to find me, but obviously I wasnt there, so he gives mom Shawns full name and my parents called me out on run away or some shit. They had cops looking all over for me. Finally they go to the cop station and look up Shawn and find his driving record... all three pages of it including several speeding tickets, a couple wreckless drivings, a couple license suspensions, and a fleeing from and an officer. So now they are really worried and driving around looking for my car in the ditches. Finally, they go back to the cop station and find Shawns address which is like 15 miles out of town. So then they drive out there and see my car at in the driveway with the shop lights off. So what do they do? Go pounding on the door to see if I was in there. Where the hell else would I be? So my mom and dad get into a big pissing contest with his mom and dad and they leave all pissed off. That all happened 10 minutes after Shawn and I went to bed. How fucked up is that? I just get done with like 11 days straight at McDonalds and I finally get a couple days off and get to start it off with working on a car, but now I am fucked for like a month. The funny thing is I told them where I would be and what I was doing and for that I am up to my fuckin eyeballs in fresh stinky horse shit! The worst part was that we didnt even finish the engine!

Dude your parents definately over reacted on this one. If you told them where you would be, and when you'd be home, then wtf was their problem. I don't even give my parents that, and I never hear anything. How old are you? If your 18, tell them to lighten up a bit. You would be of legal age, and they can't say or do shit. Just don't get kicked out :uhoh: .

They should have atleast given you until the next night to get back to them. I call it the 24 hour rule. (I make my own rules, but this one seems to be pretty good) That way they can't say they didnt give you enough time to make contact. Try and get them to use this rule.

Parents suck from 16 until you move out. I came back for the summer from college, and I don't know if I'll make it another 3 weeks without leaving. All of my friend's parents are reasonable... I got the fucking shaft. The worst things i've ever said to my mom were (shut up, get out of my room, leave me alone) each one time. This summer I said "leave me alone" and she literally cut me off from her entire life. It took a week for her to even talk to me. My step dad is an asshole -- he has been yelling at me for 2 months about getting my oil leak fixed (it has been a long process of going back to stock, ordering replacement bolts, getting stock parts, taking to mechanic 3 different times). I come back after the mechanic says "IT DOES NOT LEAK OIL" and my step dad won't let me park on "his" driveway because it leaks oil. I have to park 500 feet away because there is a road next to our house.

You're not the only one. Don't try to stand up to them... after you're 18 they can kick you out and make your life a hell if you need them for anything.
