Hello all,

I just signed up here. I've owned a 1995 GMC Sonoma since new. She's got 233,000 miles on the 4.3 V6 and still runs as good as she did when I drove her off the showroom floor 10 years ago. I just looked at a 2000 Sierra 1500 SLE (5.3) Z71 4x4 with only 43,000 miles on it. It's been "babied" more than mine (I'm a freak about my truck). The truck is garage kept, has never been used off road and most of the miles have been highway. I can honestly say the truck looks like it just rolled out of the dealership. Not a single scratch or ding on her and perfect interior. It has every option except for leather. My question is, the guy is asking $17,500 but I'd like to offer $16,000. Is this too much for this truck? Also, what, if any, issues did this make, model, and year truck have? Thank you for your responses in advance.

Scott

As I do more and more research I come up with more questions.

I have seen the infamous "pistonslap" info but am told not to worry about it by people who have worked on these. They say just to tune out the noise. It does not effect the performance or longevity of the engine.

Also, the guy with the 2000 says he got 21-22 mpg with his 5.3 on stock tires and now he get 18-19 with the bigger ones on it now. Do these numbers sound par for the course?

Again, thank for any input.

Scott
