Well, just tonight my car rolled over to 170,000 miles and the car still runs beautifully. Not bad for a 1991.

This brings me to another thing, how is everyone doing on mileage? Where's it at?

I am at over 148k. But right now my car has been sitting for over a week. Its puking oil past the crank seal and I am not going to waste my time pulling the timing belt off just to fix that when there are other things that need fixed as well. Congrats of the mileage.

Well, I'm sitting right around 137k.....mine is still running great as well. Could probably use a tune up REALLY soon tho, plugs, filters, all those type things. To last costs money $$ (duh)

holy high mileage, batman! you have, i think, the second highest mileage on this board. user 93 TT Stealth has almost 290k miles on his, and his runs just as strong as yours (if not more so relatively b/c his is a TT) now, wouldn't it be cool if you were the original owner?! <hoping, crossing fingers> Do you know how many owners the car has had? 234k miles is just CRRRRRAZY! so she still runs well?

Yeah linebckr49, i am gettin close to 290k miles i am at 289,927 - its a good thing i was the second owner an the first was some old guy- he took amazing care of the car... he showed me 23 folders packed of bills like tires replaced every 20k, plug tune up about ever 2k-3k just after the oil was changed, wheel alienments, nothing was replaced tho - it was all original so i did the timing/water pump, thermostat, its gettin ready for a plug job and a oil change i am gonna try an keep up with the guys superb care but i dont have that kinda money but i keep her healthy- cause damn i just cant afford to change the oil ever 2 months or ever 1500 miles like this old guy - i tryed to do it for a year an wow - i think it was up to about 1100$ when i calculated it - but i ya i do all my own work on it so i can be sure its done properly i dont trust shops these days most are crooked around here...

What i was surprised about was the fact that the the car was all orig. until about 287,430 when i did the thermostat, water pump an timing belt - the first thing that went was the thermostat, then the pump went so i figured id change the belt while i was there on the same spot of the engine with it all tore down, but the real amazing thing is how many vehicles do u know last 288k on a clutch - an i mean i drive it hard some times to show the guys with sticker charged cars whats up you know... so it gets it share of beat ons here an there but not like i do 4k rpm dumps on it or anything harmful like that, i usually granny it so i dont get into trouble with the police... - i only dumped it at 3k rpm once when drag racing - by the way what is the safest rpm an most efficent rpm to launch at for our awd force induction fun as hell to drive cars?

Well, before the stealth, I had never burned a clutch out... the only reason the one in the stealth burned out was b/c the local shops didn't really do what they told me they'd do... they said they'd check linkage, master and slave cylinders... after getting the second clutch put in, the pedal went to the floor... I knew what the problem was then... fixed it my damned self...

And that right there is why i dont let any shop even a big name dealership touch my cars - i dont trust them an i dont like the work they do - plus to pay someone for example to do a $300 job an u to pay them $1200 just isnt worth it - so i will stick to doing my own work - i know the job will get done right an it wont be half assed, an basically there is no funny buisness goin on like pretty much where ever u go these days...

Mikelb

oh yeah... I paid $700 to get a clutch put in the first time, the guy didn't resurface flywheel, that setup lasted a week. After the resurfacing it lasted two weeks. Then I took it to Aamco, and paid $900 to get another clutch...
