98 Regal GS Keyless Remote

Can anyone assist me on how to program a new keyless remote for my 98 Buick Regal GS? I've searched all the procedures previously posted on programming keyless entry, and I've noted the caution by tireburner on not trying any procedures not specific to my car. Good advice! Does anyone know the specific procedures for my car?

Many Thanks!

commander,

Go to a Buick dealer and have the service dept program the remote. I doubt it'll cost much and it'll save you time in the long run.:sun:

Not sure it its the same, but on a 90-94 setup there is a wire in the trunk that doesn't go to anything. It is by the antenna, if you gournd that wire the door lock and truck pulse and then you just press any button on the remote and it programs that remote into memorey. Once again, not sure if that is the same, but worth to look. Also check in you vehicle manual, cause i looked for this info for months and then found it in my manual.

I have the same vehicle and also would like to know, since mine just died, and my second one is not programmed.

Here is the procedure for your car.

Transmitter Programming
Method 1-No Tools Required
In the event that a transmitter is lost, program the old and the new transmitters into the memory of the remote control door lock receiver. Up to 4 transmitters may be programmed.

Important
Once entering this procedure, programming the first transmitter erases all previous transmitters. You must program all transmitters.
Program one vehicle at a time. One transmitter could be programmed into other vehicles that are also on program mode in close proximity.

Sit in the driver's seat.
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Close all vehicle doors.
Press and hold unlock on the door lock switch.
While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, insert and remove the ignition key twice. Do not rotate the ignition lock cylinder.
Insert the ignition key a third time leaving the key in the ignition lock cylinder. The ignition must remain in the LOCK position for the rest of the procedure.
Release the door lock switch. You will hear three chimes. This chime feedback indicates that transmitter programming is active.
Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time on the keyless entry transmitter for 12 seconds. You will hear two chimes. This chime feedback indicates that the transmitter has been programmed successfully.
Repeat step 8 for the rest of the transmitters (for a total of 4 transmitters).
Exit this procedure by removing the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.

For future reference, that same procedure can be found at http://www.regalgs.org/trans.htm

If you need a new transmitter you can usually find good deals on used ones on the net. I picked up 3 for my 2001 for under $25.
