question on nitrous

Well so I got my exhaust, its on now and Iw as only think of doing Coldair and calling it a done project.

However I am now working at this place that has this guy who happen to blow his motor on his RX-7 while testing the limits on the dyno... anywho, he wants to part out the whole thing and buy some fox body mustang (eww). He offered me the kit and the 10lb bottle for 150. Normally I wouldnt consider adding NOS due to price and risk but for 150 this is really tough to pass up.

The main thing I wanted to know was about insurance... if they findout, will they drop me? rise the price? I mean I dont actually plan on using it off the drag strip so there is no worries there (infact it would be stupid to use it off the dragstrip). I dont think they could drop me but I rather not find out later that im wrong. anyways, im sure someone outh there knows, thanks

do you have full coverage? this is the only time it make a big difference.

there's no way for them to find out though. they don't even glance at your car when u apply for insurance. but yes if they did find out (somehow) some places will raise your rates. my friend's payment went up by $10 because he accidentlly told them about the blackouts he put on his tailights.

but if you have full coverage and you blow the engine on the bottle, remove the bottle before you file the claim. tell them it blew up. pay $500 deductible and get a new car. Simple.

if you get in a wreck, make sure a police report does not metion nitrous (just don't say anything about it). Insurance will not cover it if you have race applications. they do not cover damage resulting from race modifications. again, just don't say anythin about it, nitrous is relatively difficult to detect unless you talk about it.

the insurance copanies can not drop you for having nitrous or using it. However they can drop you for being stupid with the nitrous...... like going 160+

Also, even if you dont install it on your car, you could take it and sell it to someone else for some quick cash :)

i would install it, but keep the bottle hidden, and do NOT use/install an electric bottle opener. keep it closed when you're just cruising the streets. that way even if someone DID catch you with it, then you could tell them it's track only, and theres no way you could switch it on in the street.

yeah before people start joking u like u are "rice boy" dont call it nos, just say on the bottle, because ive seen the clowning that comes from using that term. your insurance wont find out unless u leave the bottle straped to the car when they are looking at your car, other than that if u wreck your ride, just take out the bottle...simple, now if u total the car out i would take the entire system out the car if i could, not saying that will have anything to do with making a claim but just to cover your ass i would. also we all say that we wont use the bottle on the street but im telling u someone is gonna piss u off and u will wont to smoke his ass and youll find yourself hitting the button real fast, i said the same thing and guess what, i use it more on the streets than i do at the track, go figure....

You could buy it and put it in but what sense does it really make? Do u really need juice in your camaro that bad? Andways insurance couldnt do a damn thing about it even if they found out. Just tell them that its for track only and they cant say anything else about it. Wastegate... yeah... I'll have to figure out a way to hang his ass out the window in the event there's a little more substance to the exhaust than just methane.

What about them new exhaust diverter solenoids, you know the one's that direct flow to either go full strem or dump before the stream?

Otherwise, dumping out the window would be a public hazard :nono:
