How do you get the radio out without breaking the console plastic? The battery was disconnected and I need the serial number to get the code to turn it back on. Any help is appreciated.

Pop off the plastic faceplate around it with a screw driver. Once that is off you can see some screws on the inside. Take them off then you can remove the little holder, and the radio. The numbers you need are on top and I was able to get to them with just a flashlight once the front panel was off even without removeing anything else.
It does pop off just use a screw driver and take your time.

those were probably some of the worst directions i've ever heard.
first you have to remove the radio/climate control trim bezel, this is where you would use the screwdriver as noted by nova, but be careful not to break it. then you have to take off the side kickpanels for the center council. there's a screw hidden underneath a cap towards the middle. then you have to pop out the cup-holder and underneath that there are 2 screws that need to be removed. then move your front seats all the way up and there should be 2 screws hidden under caps again, one on each side of the council. remove those and then you should be able to take out the center council. watch out for the cigarette lighter though, you'll have to disconnect the wires unless you want to rip them out and ruin them. then you can remove the radio. there are screws on the sides of the radio that mount it to the dash, and then there are screws that mount the 2 units together. if you need to just take out one, undo the screws that hold it to the brackets, otherwise pull out them both at the same time.

serial number is on top no need to remove it completely. Just take the trim piece off. Thats what I meant. I apologize for the bad directions.
Better instructions on the link below. But that will also remove your heater controls if you follow it all the way through.
