I am not sure what is wrong. The check engine light came on a few weeks ago, so with the advice of a local mechanic I reset the codes to see if it would come back on. And it did yesterday. This is the code I get and what I have been told can be related:
43 Peak primary coil current not achieved with max dwell time OR
43 Cylinder misfire OR
43 Problem in power module to logic module interface
It runs fine, smokes a little bit because I need to have my valve guide seals replaced. I figured the light came on because I need to get a oil change and oil filter but the codes don't point in that direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we are leaving for a family reunion in a few days. Also, is it okay to continue driving the van.
Thanks

Engine size?? makes a difference
Note: An ODBII diagnostics reader (4 digit code) would tell you the cylinder number having this problem instead of the generic two digit diagnostic code you have.
This error means you have weak spark to one or more cylinders.
In the 2.5L or 3.0L engine, this error means a cylinder is misfiring or not achieving maximum power for some reason (plug, wires, or something else).
In the 3.3L or 3.8L engines (electronic ignition), in addition to plug or wire causing a misfire, the problem could be in the coil corrosponding to the problem cylinder. The coil would be failing to send spark to the cylinder for the proscibed amount of time (i.e. dwell).
