Painting lenses

Well I looked in the painting section of the FAQ, but couldn't really find an answer, so here's my question, should I put the lense paint on the inside or outside of the lense? I have Model Master Signal Amber Metallic, it's all that my local hoby shop had.

Inside works best. Also, try using sharpies for red lenses. I got that tip off this site and used it on my Ferrarri and it came out great.
Another way is to paint the bucket instead of the lens; try to find a pic of the real car-if the lens is actually colored, then paint the lens. If the lens is clear with, say, an amber bulb (like on my 1:1 Civic) then paint part of the bucket.

Since you mention amber, I assume you mean the turn signals, which can be done the same as the following brake lights, but I use Tamiya clear red and paint the whole thing. Then paint the back of it silver. At least that's what I did here:

Yeah inside is best. But sometimes, depending on the way the kit is engineered, you have to do it on the outside and it works fine too.

Silver or bare metal foil base. Then paint the turn signal amber or red as needed. Sharpies work too. A black sharpie along the outter edges of a lens adds some realism also.
