AC Issue

Hi
I have a 1997 RR with just about 100K on it and last week the AC bugged out and displayed the BOOK and an explanation MARK.
Although the errors had appeared in the past, nothing seemed wrong. Well this time the air coming out it cold, but not near the speed as before
Less than half the speed – This is bad news living in Arizona. My Mechanic said it was the compressor - I trust him, but....
Any other advice?
