Hello to All
I have a problem I need to answer and am writing to see if any of you knowledgeable people can help. I have a 302 2v motor out of a 78 or 79 fairmont that I am going to build to install into my 63 round body falcon, when looking for a crank kit I have been asked to provide the casting numbers from the old crank. Now here is the problem, for the life of me I can’t find the old crank I have looked everywhere and no crank. I am to understand that I have two choices a crank stamped “2M, 2MA, 2MBA, or 2MAD” all of which will fit and is the most common application or a crank stamped “2MAE” which will cause vibration problems if the wrong crank is used. I’m sure the block didn’t change so can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem? Is it just a matter of choosing the right balancer and flywheel? I don’t want to have to have a trail by error, had too many of those in the past. I don’t want to have to start from scratch because I already have $250.00 in the block. I am also open to any and all suggestions towards the remaining pieces of the engine. I’m trying to get around 300+ horses with mostly stock parts. I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and help if possible.

Your welcome Tom
Your heads are the heart of the engine, big valves, porting, high compression and big cam are what will give you the horses. Spark is another thing to keep in mind with extra fuel you need extra spark. All other parts are for strength & endurance (although you will gain a small amount of power from other areas).
As for your crank you should be able to find out what crank was in it by the engine no. call up Ford and tell them about your prob give them the engine no and model/year of the car that the engine came out of they should be able to help. If not call GT Peformance, they deal in Ford GTs and replicas only but they are the most knowledgable people on Fords in the trade.
The Ford company themselves call them up when they have a problem.
You are in the US yes? if you are, GT Performance is in Australia but will be able to help you with any problems, advice or mods that can assist in making your project a reality.
HTH (hope this helps)
