first i will say this: happy 4th of July!

then i will say this: i started the kit today. it was a gift from a friend of mine. all i did today was cut out the hood with the back of a brand new blade, cut out the bottom of the "engine" in the original kit, and start building on that. the turbos and the intake thingamajigger were cut off, as well as the ugly pulley things(sorry, my vocab isn't working right now...). i'm gonna have to say that the engine looks pretty good for my first scratchbuild. it's not 100% accurate, but i'm happy with it so far. here are some progress pics:

Holy cow! Good luck, man. I've only built an engine once myself, and that was by kitbashing 5 engines and using a foot of solder. :p

ok, so i looked at some more pics, and i'll probably start over now. by doing this i will make it somewhat more accurate and also much more sturdier for my sanding. but this time it should be much easier because i only need to cut out a few patterns from the styrene instead of like 500, like last time... haha...

Can I ask why you are taking to trouble to make the RB26 when you can use the R32 Tamiya one ?

i don't have a R32 kit. and i don't have the money to buy another kit that i won't finish. haha. plus i'm about halfway done with the engine. i worked some this morning and all it needs now is some putty to smooth it out and to build the bumps on the valve cover. i've also been working on a scratchbuilt rear wing that looks like this (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/168772) .

ok, finally some more progress worth showing on the engine. as you will see it is not, and won't be, 100% accurate. i'm just kinda making up this turbo stuff as i go along and putting piping in random places.

The way it is now, you have a filter on the intakeside of the rightside turbo, and the intake of the lefthandside turbo would be directly sucking up the exhaust fumes of the righthandside turbo. Then again, a 3-cylinder skyline would be more economical :icon16:
But cynicism and piping apart, it's a great effort, furthermore i'm trying to scratchbuild an engine myself, so i'm not the one to judge

yea these are the turbos fom the kit. i might do some modifications to it. like cut the turbos in half and put another intake. i just gotta find another intake. i was just kinda lazy to do all the research because i took a quick look and all i could see in the pictures was the pipe that goes over the turbos(i'm assuming it's the one that goes to the intercooler from the second turbo) that says "twin turbo" on it with red backing.

This is the first time that I have seen any of your work. Not a bad start.

heres a pic of my RB26 with a bit of turbo work done, I used the turbos from a GTR34 aswell, but used different piping, thought this might help, but the engine looks great! good luck!

15 month old thread. I don't know if g00ey even posts here anymore. Haven't seen anything from him in... 15 months.
