Yessterday i purchased a Diamond Stealth video card. It has a Radeon 9250 graphics (by ati). It is for a PCI bus. When I installed it there wasnt another video card present in any of the PCI slots, just a modem that i dont use.My computer has an Intel Celeron processor. I guess the graphics card is embedded in the motherboard. The wizard cant find the software to install it. The CD that came with it will also not install the driver properly. Yes, I didi uninstall my old one. Any thoughts? I'm lost when it come to the majority of this crap.

Hmmm... first of all it would've been better to get an AGP card, I doubt your system is so old as to not have one.

Anyway, just go to the ati website and download the latest catalyst drivers for your OS/videocard combo.

Could some one post up a pic of an AGP card slot or something. I cant locate one in my computer. So far I can only find the four PCI slots in the bottom of the motherboard. I got this computer two years ago for christmas. It's fine for web surfing or doing homework, but even low-tech games like the original roller coaster tycoon run slow on it. I may end up taking this back to Office Max. I got it for $130 with a free game after tax. What are some suggestions on o different card. I want games like Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and the Sims 2 to play smoothly.

By the way, my computer is an H/P(POS). its the pavillion a300n if that helps anybody figure out anything. It has Windows XP also

the agp slot is usually brown and set farther away from the edge of the motherboard than the pci slots.

Okay, i got the card working. I downloaded a driver from the ATI website. Thanks for the advice Neutrino. I am experiencing a different problem now. When I'm playing a game It will suddenly minimize. There are no popups in the back ground so im wondering what is going on. Spyware perhaps?

yeah it rather does sound like a background process is forcing the games to minimise.

Try getting ad-aware, spybot and microsoft antispyware beta (all free programs) update them and remove any offending programs. Then see if the problem persists.

I've already got a program calle Xoftspy. It kicks ass majorly. It's the best program I've had so far. You have to pay for it though, but it's worth it. I've also had adaware and spybot. Adaware works wonderfully for a free program. I'll try the microsoft one.

hmm it sounds like you already are well protected against spyware, so it might just be a regular program running for some reason. Try killing all the stuff you have in your tray. Also kill all the programs you don't need to start up everytime by going to run>msconfig>startup tab and unselect anything you don't need to start up every single time.

It still doesent work right. Damn...this is wonderful. And to top it all off, i've got heartburn, the dude across the street is revving up his Ranger with straight pipes, and i just got a massive brain freeze from my icecream. Hell, i guess Ill just watch porn. Seriosly... if you can think of anything else, post it. The service tech dude has his thumb up his ass and doesn't know whether to fight or fuck. Yall'r my only hope at this point
