Pictures of the hooptie (Long, 56K warn)

These are a few pictures of the car. They were taken with a disposable camera, so the quality isn's so good. A few also didn't turn out. This is my first time posting pics online, so this may take a couple edits to get right. I do have some questions along the way, too.
Let me know if you see something bad, or feel free to say whatever you like.

This thing is dirty, lol. I was about to put the driver's side mount back in, you can see it missing, along with quite a bit of other stuff. I'd be a liar to say I remember where everything goes :) I made diagrams as I took things off, and bundled screws that went to each application.
The radiator support is obviously bent to hell. It makes the picture look distored-- there's no center line to hang on to. Right now the transfer case has a jack on it, but even without that, the engine is still crooked. Also note how close the intake manifold is to the firewall, fun.

Here's a closer up picture, from where the radiator would be. The oil line from the turbo that leads to the block is leaking. Or, it's a good bet that it is, since there's oil caked down there. You can see the newer o2 housing and RRE DP. They really do make nice stuff, it mated together very well.
Here's the reason I took this pic: Behind the front motor mount (I think) the transfer case bolts to the transmission. If you look closely, to the direct right of the motor mount, you can see that they don't fit flush together. I'm wondering how bad that is. I'd imagine grime is working its way in there and eventually going to bring a short death to something.

The rust on the underside of the car is minimal, and on pieces that were busted and should have been replaced. You can see two things here-- that there is a nice oil leak somewhere, and that the oil pan is horribly dented inward. Everytime Kevin talks about being carefull of your oil pan, I cringe. Any guesses on where the leak is from?

On a lighter note, here's a look at my working area. It's the first time I've had a real garage to work in, and it's fucking cool. What you can see: Stock parts that weren't going back on the car below the sweatshirt, tools to the right, mods on the shelf, big tools and big rotors in the stacked wood things. Oh, and my Yosemite license plate frame... just for a touch of irony.

This is about the swaybar dillema I was having. I'm still curious. The swaybar is aligned on both its links, but can't swing up and bolt to the frame. If you imagine the swaybar swinging out and up about two and a half inches, that's where it would bolt. If you look you can see it faintly. Unfortunately the exhaust is in the way. I'd have needed to engineer some extensions for the bar to bolt onto, reenforced onto something, but I'm not sure what. My other idea was to cut a hole into the exhaust... but then what's the point of having exhaust.

This is the picture of my Ford Taurus, recently deceased due to a broken XOD transmission. It lost four of those in a period of 230,000 miles. It was much more reliable than the DSM. The best mod for any DSM is having a backup car to go fetch parts and tools...

This is where I spend the rest of my time. I don't know what to say about this one, it's just another reminder I have a test tomorrow.

So, that's all. Those are some pictures that corresponded to a few threads that desperately needed visuals.
The picture that didn't turn out: A few of the bolts I broke, a broken craftsman's 3/8th drive, and the scarred deep well socket I lodged down in the spark plug cylinder.
Let this be a lesson to everyone trying to find a good deal on a beater 2g, rather than buying a decent 1g :) There's much more work than I thought there would be. Removing one piece for replacement meant finding three more under it that needed to be swapped out, too. I had a good time, most of the time, learned a hell of a lot, and never want to see the piece of shit for the rest of my life. Hoping to get another in a year or so :)
