let me start this off by saying i hate cops.... sneaky fuckers!!! well about a week ago i got my $300 bmx bike stolen.. and i gotta tip where it was and who has it.. well my buddy follows me in his big ass chevy truck, im in my SE-R and i hit it, going at 100 + mph, then i think wait i need to slow my ass down.. holiday weekend. then im going 65, and then put it on cruise control.. my buddy catches back up.. not knowing a cop was behind him the whole time.. the cop gets half way in the other lane without lights on.(i was looking in my rear view mirror).. then going down a hill then the road levels out again.. and then i see him with his lights on in the other lane like he was gonna pass my friend and come after me.. so i pull over and my buddy also pulls over.. he comes to my window first and says he clocked me about 3 miles ago going 76, and asks for lisence and proof of insurance.. ok.. then he goes back to my friends truck and says he paced us at 72 mph...
one hour later he gets back out of his car and gives me a speeding ticket, but he wrote it for 70.. waste of 75 bucks... but then he wrote my friend a ticket and it said 70 +.... he was behind me... hmm im going slower than he was and he was behind me... sounds funny hunh? well here is my question.. im 16 and my insurance on my car is 75.88 a month from state farm right now.... will my insurance go up from this ticket?? and if so about how much? thanks for any info.. and watch out for those damn cops... i think i lost my mind....

Unless you can argue it down to a parking ticket or something, your insurance will go up a fair amount, though it is impossible to say how much. You'll have to call your insurance provider to find out.

Exactly, if the ticket doesn't get reduced or dismissed, it will definantly cause a rise in your insurance, depending on where you live, you may even be in jeopardy of losing your license. In NY, you are on a 6 month or 12 month (don't remember) probationary period when you first get your license...if you get a ticket during that time, you lose your license.

It's a 6 month period, but not exactly as you describe; it's either one speeding ticket, one passing a stopped school bus ticket, or two moving violations, and your lisence is suspended until 18 I believe.

The insurance increase is probably going to be 30%. 16 year olds shouldn't be driving 100+ anyways. You'll learn it the hard way I guess. As to what I think happened: he saw both of you speeding, but didn't clock you, so he just gave you the tickets for 70 because he knew you were speeding.

I'm a cop in CA, and it seems to me is that your attitude and your driving are the main concerns.
Driving like a goddamn fool, based on a tip, is a great way to get people killed; I see it all the time.
Next time you get a tip, Einstein, try letting the cops know. They'll dispatch a unit, you'll find out how good a tip it was, and you don't risk your life, others' lives and your insurance status by driving like a maniac.
Sneaky, my ass.

Dunno bout them probationary periods, here it is 3 years from when you get your license. Granted I got my license nearly a decade ago and the laws have changed for teenage drivers (gotta be 17 now instead of the 16 it used to be and other stuff like that).
