Hello
I recently purchased 2000 sunfire 90K mi.
It seems to have a very highy clutch which oi'm not used to
so sometimes i end up stalling the car at first gear.
but when that happens, car doesnt restart at the first turn of thekey. it struggles for a bit then it starts.
is this normal behaviour of the car?
also. when i change the gears into 1st and 2nd, i can here slight grinding noise under that car. is this normal? or is the clutch going bad?
thanks for any thoughts

1. Car not starting could be a number of things from Flooding it to Weak Ignitiion. So checking on things slowly will be your best bet.
2. Grinding comming from underneath the car? Where is it comming from can you pin point where it is? Do you feel it in the stick when shifting? Or in your foot while clutch is depressed? Also you stated your Clutch seems quite high , you may need a clutch adjustment and this maybe your problem. Need to determine where it is before anyone can tell you the problem.

Hydraulic clutch = no adjustment. you need to re learn to drive with that clutch. Get the fuel system cleaned AT THE DEALER so they can do a complete fuel system flush and pressure check. it's due for one. if you are changing gears and hearing grinding, Either you aren't getting the clutch in right, or the transmission is starting to lose 2nd. something that happens in the later transmissions when run hard.
