I have a turbo charged celica. I searched the site but couldn't find a thread like this... maybe searching in wrong place. Anyways, I need to get a turbo timer for my car. Who do you think makes the best and why if you don't mind? :(

I think they are a waste of money. Just sit in your car for half a minute after you drive. There shoudln't be very many times where you run the hell out of your car and then turn it off immediately. I say save the ~$100 you would spend on it and spend it elsewhere. But if you do get one, make sure you get one that has another useful function. My HKS Type O has a voltage gauge. Some have boost gauges built in.

It's not my money that's gonna pay for it. This one guy told my parents when we got the car that it needed a timer and now they are insisting to get one so I said I'd find a good one and get it. I found a Greddy that also can measure your 1/4 mile times and I was thinking maybe that one.

I think my friend is running an Apexi timer on his turbo svt contour. It usually runs for about a minute before it shuts off itself. Its a 5 speed so the e-brake has to be pulled when he leaves the car running. It has a cool anti-theft feature though. If you pull the ebrake lever down while its still running, it automatically shuts the car off. Im sure this is pretty much standard though with all the turbo timers youve listed.
As for myself, i saved myself the hundred dollars and just let it run for about 30 seconds before shutting it off for good measure regardless of whether i just did a spirited run or not. IMHO, they are a waste of money.

Yea it is a saftey feature for hte turbo timers to make you pull the E brake. Since I installed my alarm, I have to sit there anyways till it shuts off.lol I only keep it for the voltage gauge.

also unless you just come off of running it hard, youll be fine. the ammount of low RPM/ idling you do to pull up to a parking lot or what not is more than sufficient.
Just get a water cooled centersection that will do the trick :evillol:

Yeah, if you let your car sit and idle for 30 seconds to a minute, you should be good. However, I completely agree with nissanfanatic...get one that has another useful feature, and avoid getting one if you have an aftermarket alarm...because I'm in the same boat and still have to sit there until the car shuts off, regardless...
